5 Tips for taking care of toddler's teeth

We all want to give the best for our kids. This includes providing the best dental care possible. Here are some tips that will help you to take care of your toddler's teeth




#1 Introduce brushing as soon as the teeth erupt


The most important oral hygiene method is brushing. Proper brushing removes plaque and hence prevents cavities. Ensure you introduce the correct brushing technique to your little one as soon as the tooth erupts. Brushing can be a boring Tedious task for kids. Try to make it fun with brushing songs and routine charts.


#2 Vegetables and Fruits In, Junk Out


Give your toddlers a lot of fruits and veggies, and avoid any food with added sugar. This means avoiding biscuits, cream biscuits, cakes, chocolates, sweets, and sticky gums. Kids are not on diet so this is not possible but avoid these as much as you can.


#3 Cheese


Cheese is an excellent source of calcium, chewing cheese helps to release calcium and helps to make the teeth stronger. Limit it to two times a week.


#4 Gargling after every meal


A very important habit that is usually missed. Gargling the mouth with water ensures that there is not food deposited in the mouth.


#5 Visit a pediatric dentist once in 6 months


Last but not least, visiting the dentist will make sure that your child gets a through check up of his/ her mouth. It not only helps with detecting cavities but also makes sure your child has good oral habits and a desired development of face and mouth. Any treatment/ preventive methods that is required will be informed to you and then performed.



Prevention of any disease is both easy, safe and less expensive compared to treatment. Dental cavity are life style disease just like diabetes or hypertension, following and instilling these practices from a young age will help your child in the long run.
